About the position

Dominion Generation is seeking qualified applicants for Mechanic Trainee positions at our Surry Power Station. As a Mechanic Trainee, you will be responsible for learning to perform maintenance on power station mechanical equipment, including overhauling and maintaining major industrial equipment such as pumps, valves, turbines, and other rotating equipment. Overtime, both planned and emergency, is required. You will be placed in a standardized skills development program and will be part of the emergency response organization. Some travel (for periods of up to a month or more) may be required to support other station outages.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform maintenance on power station mechanical equipment.
• Perform overhauling and maintenance of major industrial equipment such as pumps, valves, turbines and other rotating equipment.
• Participate in a standardized skills development program.
• Be part of the emergency response organization and support other station outages as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• One (1) year of experience in overhauling and maintaining equipment such as pumps, valves, turbines and other rotating equipment.
• Experience working with hand tools/industrial tools, rigging, scaffolding, forklifts, coarse and precision measurement tools.
• Basic computer skills (including keyboarding).
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working in a Nuclear Power Plant
• Millwright experience
• Journeyman's license in any field
• Vocational/Technical training or prior military experience
• A strong mechanical aptitude.
