About the position

The Mechanic at Select Water Solutions is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in diesel equipment, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the transportation fleet. This role involves conducting inspections, performing preventative maintenance, and maintaining accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities. The Mechanic must work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, and will be required to communicate effectively with management regarding the status of repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical problems and repair equipment on or off-site.
  • Maintain transportation fleet to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and review daily pre and post-trip reports.
  • Correct identified deficiencies and schedule major repairs.
  • Complete required documentation for maintenance and repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with management about repair statuses.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Maintain shop and field maintenance equipment, including periodic calibration.
  • Identify and maintain an inventory of high-use maintenance items.
  • Function on-call to respond to emergency call-outs.
  • Control costs of maintenance and repairs through warranty and vendor evaluation.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and eligibility to drive a company vehicle according to insurance guidelines.
  • Prior dealership experience preferred.
  • Heavy duty truck mechanic experience.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing Diesel Exhaust Aftertreatment systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, diesel engine, hydraulic, pump, and vacuum equipment problems.
  • Experience working on tractor trailers.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer/laptop usage.
  • Intermediate knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations for repairs.
  • Ability to use battery and charging system test equipment.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random DOT alcohol and drug screenings, background check, road test, and driving record review.
