Responsibilities
- Perform varied mechanical work involved in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of motor vehicles and construction equipment.
- Diagnose reasons for motor failure and take necessary steps to correct the condition.
- Operate and install components and systems of vehicles, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
- Use diagnostic and testing equipment to determine the cause of mechanical problems.
- Refer to technical manuals, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to make repairs.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of motor vehicles and construction equipment.
- One year of training in automotive technology at an accredited community college or vocational school.
- Possession of industry-related certifications based on the type of mechanic work performed.
- Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and accessories.
- Ability to use a wide range of diagnostic and testing equipment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in diesel mechanics preferred.
