  • Operate and install components and systems of vehicles, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  • Use diagnostic and testing equipment to determine the cause of mechanical problems.
  • Refer to technical manuals, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to make repairs.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of motor vehicles and construction equipment.
  • One year of training in automotive technology at an accredited community college or vocational school.
  • Possession of industry-related certifications based on the type of mechanic work performed.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and accessories.
  • Ability to use a wide range of diagnostic and testing equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in diesel mechanics preferred.
