About the position

The Mechanical Assembler position at Aerotek involves working on battery assembly for large vehicles. This long-term role, which has the potential for direct hire, requires a strong technical and mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and basic computer skills. The assembler will be responsible for following blueprints and work instructions while utilizing various tools and equipment in a fully on-site environment.

Responsibilities

• Transport batteries using a pallet jack.
• Follow blueprints and work instructions for assembly tasks.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and fabricating equipment for assembly.
• Perform drilling, reaming, tapping, riveting, and installing heli-coils.
• Conduct arithmetic calculations and convert fractions to decimals/millimeters.
• Read and record detailed measurements accurately.
• Prepare, clean, install, assemble, rework, verify, test, and inspect components.
• Measure parts using micrometers and height gauges.
• Utilize drill presses and portable power drills effectively.
• Verify functionality of parts using a Digital Multimeter.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Identify non-conforming parts and recommend modifications.
• Rework and repair assembled equipment.
• Handle materials using hand trucks, carts, fork trucks, and scissor lifts.

Requirements

• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
• Basic computer navigation and utilization skills.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and fabricating equipment.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations and convert measurements accurately.
• Proficiency in using software like Google Sheets or Excel.
• Experience in preparing, cleaning, installing, and inspecting components.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with battery assembly or similar mechanical assembly roles.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and PPE requirements in a manufacturing environment.
