The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the assembly, testing, disassembly, inspection, and painting of enclosed drive gearboxes. This role involves performing labor activities in the assembly and test departments, disassembling and inspecting gearboxes, and conducting gear box assembly and testing. The assembler will also be responsible for deburring, cleaning, and painting gearboxes, as well as continuously eliminating waste and implementing cycle time reduction. Collaboration with other facility teams, such as Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering, is essential to ensure that assembly and test problems are addressed and resolved quickly. Additionally, the assembler will provide feedback to Engineering on assembly and test discrepancies, drawing errors, and quality errors to prevent recurrence. Emphasizing workplace safety, housekeeping, and environmental compliance is a critical aspect of this role, as is developing relationships with peer groups to foster teamwork and unity of purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Perform labor activities in the assembly & test departments.
  • Perform disassembly and inspection of gear boxes.
  • Perform gear box assembly and test.
  • Perform deburring, cleaning, and painting.
  • Responsible for continuous elimination of waste and implementing cycle time reduction.
  • Work with other facility teams (Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering) to ensure that assembly/test problems are addressed and resolved quickly.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering on assembly/test discrepancies, drawing errors, quality errors etc., to preclude reoccurrence.
  • Practice and emphasize values and a culture that place the highest value on workplace safety, housekeeping, and environmental compliance.
  • Develop relationships with peer groups that foster teamwork and unity of purpose.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years experience in a related field.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, lift up and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, along with the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
