About the position

The Mechanical Claims Specialist (MCS) role at Ally is designed for individuals with a passion for automotive mechanics who wish to transition from manual labor to a more customer-focused position. The MCS will work closely with selling dealers, repair facilities, and retail customers to provide support and assistance with vehicle service contracts and insurance programs. This position leverages mechanical knowledge to ensure customer satisfaction and effective claims processing.

Responsibilities

• Leverage automotive technical knowledge to assist selling dealers and repair facilities in filing claims.
• Respond to inbound calls and written correspondence from customers, dealers, repair facilities, and financial institutions regarding policy administration and claim inquiries.
• Achieve total customer satisfaction when handling contract and claim matters.
• Check for existing case information through research, manuals, databases, or contacts.

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in the automotive repair industry preferred.
• Strong mechanical background with effective communication skills to interact with repair facilities.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to negotiate and make quick decisions while managing conflicting priorities.
• Knowledge of computer basics and navigation of technical platforms; must pass a virtual mechanical test as part of the interview process.
