UCT is seeking an experienced and talented Mechanical Design Engineer II (Test Equipment) to join our team in Hayward, CA! In this role, you will be expected to design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment. You will prepare test and diagnostic programs, design automated test fixtures and equipment, and complete testing procedures for new products. Additionally, you will plan the labor, schedule, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices, as well as develop and maintain a test equipment service schedule and database.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support with the design and development tasks on mechanical, electrical/electronic equipment, components, circuits, and cables for new and existing products.
  • Create design documentation, build prototypes, and conduct testing.
  • Select new mechanical and electronic components.
  • Drive the development of qualification test procedures and carry out qualification testing.
  • Interface with Design Engineering to coordinate the testing of new released products.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  • Prepare reports of results and conclusions for management.
  • Develop and manage testing equipment calibration and preventive maintenance program, schedule, and database.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
  • 2+ years related experience in the Manufacturing and semiconductor environment.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software - Creo, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with control systems utilized in industrial production and process automation, industrial standards for safety and compliance, and serial communication protocols.
  • LabView experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor equipment industry practices related to gas and liquid delivery systems; understanding the concepts of pressure, vacuum, and fluid flow.
  • Good knowledge of electrical theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience creating documentation, system diagrams, schematic diagrams, and P&ID.

Nice-to-haves
