About the position

Apple is seeking a dedicated mechanical engineer to support design, engineering, prototyping, and validation activities for new technologies. This role involves crafting innovative products that enhance customer experiences and contribute to Apple's commitment to excellence and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project leads to resolve design requirements and brainstorm solutions to mechanical engineering problems.
  • Refine concepts into polished designs by collaborating with internal and external fabrication resources.
  • Develop clear test and assembly plans, perform failure analysis, and iterate on designs as needed.
  • Present designs and results to the cross-functional team during design reviews.
  • Collaborate with electrical and optical engineers to integrate optomechanical components and PCBs/ICs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in mechanical product design, preferably with opto-mechanical parts/assemblies.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD, with NX preferred.
  • Experience performing FEA modeling (structural/thermal) for design validation.
  • Experience working with electrical engineers to layout and build custom PCBs.
  • Experience owning parts at various production stages and engaging with vendors for successful parts/assemblies.
  • Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques, including mechanical drawing composition and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and statistical tolerance analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning, and excellent technical communication.
