In this position, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, ensuring positive outcomes. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You will utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations that adhere to code requirements and IMEG standards. This role requires effective communication with clients to understand their needs and gather project requirements, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. As a Mechanical Engineering Graduate- Designer 1, you will also participate in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives. You will document design decisions and monitor project design progress while analyzing engineering tasks and proposing innovative solutions. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that engineering designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements. Additionally, you will stay updated with industry trends and best practices, contributing to research and innovation efforts within IMEG. Safety will be a priority in all aspects of your work, as you identify and mitigate potential risks associated with mechanical systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using engineering software and tools.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs and gather project requirements.
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects.
  • Assist with documenting design decisions and monitoring project design progress.
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions.
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs meet quality standards.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and contribute to research and innovation efforts.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify potential safety risks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts for technical plans and specifications.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with industry standard engineering software and tools, including HVAC load calculation software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Basic knowledge in the use of BIM software.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
