As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Collins Aerospace, you will be an integral part of our Interiors Seating team, focusing on innovative design and engineering solutions for aviation interiors. This role is pivotal in overseeing the entire product life-cycle, from initial concept through to production and product support. You will be responsible for designing major components and functional systems, as well as creating technically advanced prototypes that meet the highest standards of quality and functionality. Your contributions will directly impact the development and improvement of our products, ensuring they are reliable, manufacturable, and maintainable. In this position, you will engage in various tasks including mechanical design, where you will design mechanical components and assemblies, perform engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components, and solve design problems while verifying computations. You will also prepare, modify, and release CAD drawings using Siemens NX, ensuring the fit, form, and function of mechanical designs. Additionally, you will conduct structural verification tests on prototypes for reliability and FAA certification, utilizing engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEA, and DFMA to validate design content. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with other functional areas and participate in design reviews. You will also evaluate materials and parts for new designs, communicating with current and new suppliers to ensure the best choices are made for our products.
