Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve products, techniques, procedures, and technologies. You will design and develop new ideas and solutions for new product development as well as current products modification and improvements based on in-service issues and market strategy. You are responsible for design and implementation of mechanical parts, subassemblies and product improvements. Design components that form parts of complex systems. Use mechanical engineering experience for a mix of product development and improvement. Utilize your engineering capabilities to support projects in a variety of markets. In this role, you will focus on the design and development of thermostat enclosures and home-comfort systems. You will work closely with other mechanical engineers and manufacturing engineers to ensure components are optimized for manufacturing, including automated assembly, Poka-Yoke design principles, and tolerance stacks. Collaboration with electronics engineers will be essential to integrate PCBAs into mechanical enclosures. You will also collaborate with other technical teams, including Firmware, Simulation, and Quality to optimize product designs. Your responsibilities will include creating and maintaining technical documentation, including DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis), BOMs (Bill of Materials), and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report). You will design and prototype enclosures using CAD software, considering factors such as material selection, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, you will conduct testing and validation of sensor enclosures and airflow systems, analyzing performance metrics and addressing any issues or deficiencies through iterative refinement and optimization. Driving innovation in comfort-sensing technology through research, experimentation, and evaluation of emerging technologies and industry trends will also be a key part of your role.
