About the position

Anduril Industries is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team dedicated to transforming military capabilities through advanced technology. In this role, you will be responsible for generating conceptual design layouts for new hardware, focusing on upgrades and new mission types using CAD software. You will create detailed production drawings utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and perform tolerance stackup analysis to ensure precision in manufacturing. Collaboration is key, as you will interface with both vendor and in-house fabrication and assembly teams during the design and prototype hardware builds, ensuring that all producibility lessons learned are incorporated into design changes and drawing revisions. Your responsibilities will also include designing and testing composite structures, machined components, and propulsion fluid systems, as well as updating drawings to support manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for configuration management at the system or subsystem level, ensuring that all components meet the required specifications and standards. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where products are manufactured rapidly. Responsibilities

  • Generate conceptual design layouts for new hardware for upgrades and new mission types using CAD.
  • Generate detailed production drawings using GD&T and perform tolerance stackup analysis.
  • Interface with vendor or in-house fabrication and assembly teams during design and prototype hardware builds.
  • Incorporate any producibility lessons learned by design change and drawing revision.
  • Design and test composite structures, machined components, and propulsion fluid systems.
  • Update drawings to support manufacturing.
  • Responsible for configuration management at the system or subsystem level.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience with detailed mechanical systems from cradle to grave, including structures, mechanisms, fluid systems, and electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g. Unigraphics, Solidworks, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where products are manufactured.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong hands-on technical skills - both professional and hobby.
  • Solid understanding and application of GD&T.
  • Ability to manage large assembly models and drawings.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) by adding functionality and/or playing the role of 'subject matter expert' for the team/company.
  • Ability to work well in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
  • Creative problem solver that can bring multiple disciplines together.
  • Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
