About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer position at IMEG is designed for new graduates looking to start their careers in mechanical engineering. This role involves collaborating with experienced engineers to provide innovative engineering solutions for mechanical systems in the vertical building industry. The position emphasizes teamwork, client interaction, and adherence to project budgets while ensuring high-quality standards in design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using engineering software and tools.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Support project planning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Document design decisions and monitor project design progress.
  • Analyze engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions in collaboration with senior engineers.
  • Participate in quality control processes to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and contribute to research and innovation efforts.
  • Prioritize safety in engineering work and identify potential risks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of design techniques and tools for producing technical plans and specifications.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard engineering software, including HVAC load calculation software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of BIM software.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
