We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer in our Mason, Ohio headquarters location. The role involves designing new products and improving existing designs, with activities ranging from R&D, conceptual design, prototyping, sourcing, testing, manufacturing integration, and engineering change order execution.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design new parts and complete systems related to coiling overhead doors.
• Use Autodesk Inventor to design and layout part and assembly drawings, apply standard drafting practices.
• Develop engineering standards and calculations to govern infinitely variable designs for implementation into ERP system.
• Work with Project Manager to follow Phase Gate process to take new products from idea to market release.
• Work with Strategic Marketing to develop project scope and product specifications, from function to aesthetics.
• Implement new products into existing system via engineering change order process.
• Work with cross functional teams to ensure organization is ready to support and manufacture new products.
• Develop installation instructions.
• Maintain positive customer, vendor and co-worker relationships.
• Contribute to new product ideas.
• Independently manage time and prioritize tasks.
• Interact with manufacturing from design to production.
• Oversee and/or perform assembly and testing of engineering prototypes.
• Validate designs for conformance to various structural and life safety codes and standards as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required, Mechanical Engineering field.
• Minimum of two years experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient with 3D Solid Modeling using Inventor or Solidworks.
• Knowledge of project management, product development and fabrication processes for optimal product design.
• Knowledge and application of Excel.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
