About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer for Power Sports & Products at Honda is responsible for developing functioning prototypes for ATV/SxS vehicles. This role involves researching and applying new technologies to meet business targets while ensuring global vehicle product quality. The engineer will work with minimal supervision to create component layouts, manage project schedules, and contribute to the evolution of new technologies, all while adhering to cost targets and maintaining documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop basic component and system layouts for ATV/SxS prototype vehicles using CAD software.
• Communicate specification requirements and manufacturing control points via prototype and production drawings.
• Maintain accurate technical, development, and administrative documentation.
• Adhere to cost targets for responsible parts and optimize designs to achieve vehicle development targets.
• Create and manage work schedules to ensure deadlines are met and coordinate resource needs with supervisors.
• Generate ideas that contribute to the evolution of new technologies and support their maturation for development applications.
• Support market quality themes and utilize problem-solving methods to analyze root causes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related engineering discipline.
• Engineering experience, preferably in Powersports or Automotive field.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and management.
• Competent in FTA, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-ups, and application.
• Competent analytical, problem-solving, judgment, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
• Competent drawing and layout skills, including understanding of CAE principles.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with product development schedules.
