This philosophy allows us to redefine the driving experience without being bound by convention. We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Service Engineering team. This team is responsible for the tooling requirements for Lucid vehicles, service, and ancillary systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background in mechanical designs and their real-world applications. You will be tasked with designing and developing engineering systems quickly and accurately, ensuring ease of manufacturing and assembly. Your responsibilities will include generating 3D models and 2D drawings of engineering systems, jigs, and fixtures to a high standard required for both internal and external manufacturing, both in the US and globally. Additionally, you will assist in coordinating design and manufacturing programs and the testing and verification of designs. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be required to create innovative design solutions to complex issues and introduce and develop new materials and processes with a focus on cost reduction. A flexible attitude and a team-player mindset are essential, along with strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work with minimal supervision. You will thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, demonstrating outstanding technical problem-solving abilities based on a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engineering systems for tooling requirements of Lucid vehicles.
  • Generate 3D models and 2D drawings of engineering systems, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Assist in the coordination of design and manufacturing programs.
  • Conduct testing and verification of designs.
  • Create innovative design solutions to complex issues.
  • Introduce and develop new materials and processes with an emphasis on cost reduction.
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision while managing difficult projects with tight timing and budget constraints.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Outstanding technical problem-solving abilities based on a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and V6 (NX, Unigraphics is acceptable).
  • Familiarity with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Demonstrated understanding of GD&T.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage difficult projects with tight timing and budget constraints.
  • Technology knowledge for tooling, assemblies, and testing is a plus.
  • Understanding of the design process from initial concept stages through tooling release and production launch.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on practical experience in mechanical assembly, prototyping, or testing.
  • Experience in injection molding, 3D printing, and machining techniques.
  • Previous automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience.
