We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer lead to steer the NextGen Seeker design for the JASSM program. The Mechanical lead will ensure hardware development through required reviews to meet program milestones. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include working with the Seeker Integrated Product Team (IPT) to complete seeker gimbal design, leading the mechanical engineering team using Model-Based Design (MBD) to support the maturation of JASSM's NextGen seeker, and ensuring proficiency with tools such as Creo/CATIA V5, MBD, and Windchill. You will also be involved in tolerance analysis, Line of Sight (LOS) budget management, gimbal balance, control, Interface Control Document (ICD), and mass properties management. Candidates filling this position will need to be U.S. citizens and will require a security clearance at the specified level or the ability to obtain one if not specified. Additionally, candidates may need to be approved to work on Special Access Programs (SAP) prior to starting employment. Responsibilities

  • Working with Seeker IPT to complete seeker gimbal design
  • Leading mechanical engineering team using Model-Based Design (MBD) to support the maturation of JASSM's NextGen seeker
  • Conducting tolerance analysis and managing Line of Sight (LOS) budget
  • Overseeing gimbal balance, control, Interface Control Document (ICD), and mass properties management
  • Traveling to Troy or suppliers as needed

Requirements

  • Experience designing Opto-Mechanical Systems or Precision Mechanical System Controls (bearings, torque motors, position sensors)
  • Experienced with GD&T, tolerance analyses, LOS Jitter and mass properties analysis & management
  • Team leadership experience

Nice-to-haves

  • CATIA and Creo experience
  • Experienced with Model Base Definition and Model Base Enterprise tools and processes
  • Leadership experience as a Mentor and Knowledge Continuity
