About the position
The Mechanical Design Engineer with Creo will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the design and development of mechanical systems and components. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering principles and hands-on experience with CAD tools, particularly Creo. The engineer will engage in problem identification and requirement analysis, collaborating effectively with internal teams, stakeholders, and customers throughout the project lifecycle. The position involves working on complex sub-systems and components for new product development, as well as upgrading and modifying existing modules. In addition to design and detailing of components using metals, plastics, and ceramics, the engineer will manage the Bill of Materials (BOM), configuration management, and engineering change management during the product lifecycle. The role also includes performing hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structures, frames, modules, and components as needed. The engineer will be responsible for selecting standard OEM components such as bearings, O-rings, gearboxes, motors, and pneumatic and electrical actuators. Furthermore, preparation of technical documents, including manuals, instructions, reports, and maintenance sheets, is a key aspect of this position.
Responsibilities
- Problem identification, requirement analysis, and engineering problem solving for products and systems.
- Design and detailing of components using metals, plastics, and ceramics as per relevant industry standards.
- Effective collaboration with internal teams, stakeholders, and customers during various phases of project execution.
- Working with complex sub-systems and components for new product development, upgrades, and modifications.
- Performing BOM management, configuration management, and engineering change management during the product lifecycle.
- Conducting hand calculations and FEA analysis for structures, frames, modules, and components as needed.
- Selection of standard OEM components such as bearings, O-rings, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic and electrical actuators, and gas springs.
- Preparation of technical documents such as manuals, instructions, reports, and operation and maintenance sheets.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical design and development.
- Experience working on projects from input requirement to final product release, including input gathering, concept design, detailed design, prototyping, testing, and issue resolution.
- Hands-on experience in CAD tools (CREO, SOLIDEDGE, CATIA).
- Design, develop, and modify mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, detailed drawings, and specifications of difficult scope.
- Design expertise in machined, sheet metal, weldments, and plastic parts.
- Selection of engineering materials and standard OEM parts based on application.
- Good knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
- Experience working with 3D CAD, 2D drawings of complex assemblies, and engineering documentation of products complying with industrial standards.
- Perform engineering analysis (FEA and calculations) of difficult scope with limited supervision.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, change management processes, and PLM tools.
- Engineering problem identification and troubleshooting of a variety of mechanical problems with limited supervision.
- Experience working in the semiconductor equipment industry.
- Experience working closely with suppliers, stakeholders, and customers.
Nice-to-haves
- Exposure to safety standards pertaining to the semiconductor equipment industry.
- Experience in vacuum technology, thermodynamics, process chambers, fluid dynamics, pneumatics, pumps, gauges, gas/liquid flow systems, and industrial automation is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of mechatronics, system integration, and product ownership.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with global teams and stakeholders.
