About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer at Georgia-Pacific will focus on supporting the Dixie® business, particularly in the development of Dixie® plates, the leading paper plate in the market. This role involves solving complex consumer problems through innovative design solutions while leveraging a deep understanding of materials and manufacturing principles. The position is based at the Neenah Technical Center in Neenah, WI, with hybrid work options available.

Responsibilities

  • Design, experiment, and evaluate alternatives to solve complex problems and execute product roadmaps based on technical capabilities and market needs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technology partners to develop and implement new tooling design and substrate technologies.
  • Connect market and consumer needs to product performance by designing alternatives and setting technical specifications.
  • Work with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive product and cost improvements.
  • Design and execute experiments to understand and mitigate technical risks of new products.
  • Provide technical support on product claims, data substantiation, and overall product perspectives to various teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience creating 3D parts and drawings in Solidworks, AutoCad Inventor, or Pro/Engineer.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in product development and project management.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials science.
