About the position

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Condair Group, you will be instrumental in designing and developing mechanical architectures for equipment used in commercial and industrial evaporative cooling and humidification applications. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to create products that meet customer requirements and enhance market offerings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC systems and a passion for innovation, contributing to product testing and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer documents including technical specifications, schematic diagrams, and mechanical drawings to understand their requirements.
  • Develop conceptual designs based on customer requirements including budgetary costing and CDE (Comply, Deviate, Exception) documentation.
  • Undertake detailed engineering design work using 3D and 2D CAD systems to produce models and manufacturing drawings.
  • Ensure designs meet specifications, performance criteria, and manufacturing standards.
  • Prepare and develop BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Responsible for prototype assembly, testing, and refinement.
  • Analyze test data and modify designs to improve performance or resolve issues.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality control processes.
  • Compile documentation to obtain accreditation for products.
  • Provide engineering level support for products in the field.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies, materials, and trends in mechanical engineering.
  • Adhere to Condair's Quality Assurance System and Health and Safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
  • 3-5 years' experience in mechanical product or system design is required.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and orally in English.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering principles and design standards.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing of mechanical components.
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
  • 3D and 2D CAD experience is essential.
  • 3D and 2D Solid Edge and PLM experience is essential.
  • Strong computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Microsoft Office.
  • Valid and up-to-date passport, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Sheet metal design experience is preferred.
  • Experience in HVAC design field is preferred.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 organization is an asset.
  • Experience of structural design analysis is an asset.
  • Experience using SAP is an asset.
