About the position

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Anduril Industries, you will play a crucial role in the development of advanced defense technology. Your primary responsibility will be to create CAD models for all of Anduril's hardware product lines, generating innovative designs from scratch in collaboration with analysts and other engineers. This position requires a strong focus on design for manufacturability, where you will incorporate multiple inputs such as manufacturing and integration to enhance product reliability while reducing costs. You will also lead design changes on existing hardware products, ensuring that all modifications are well-documented and traceable from the initial prototype to ongoing production. In addition to design responsibilities, you will create and maintain detailed Bills of Materials for a set of hardware products, manage change documentation, and actively guide the Product Lifecycle framework. This includes overseeing release workflows, establishing part modeling standards, and assisting in the automation of business tools. Your work will directly contribute to Anduril's mission of transforming military capabilities through cutting-edge technology, and you will be part of a dynamic team that is committed to innovation and excellence in the defense sector.

Responsibilities

  • Create CAD models for all of Anduril's hardware product lines, generating novel designs from scratch in collaboration with analysts and other engineers.
  • Incorporate design for manufacturability via multiple inputs such as manufacturing and integration to increase product reliability and lower costs.
  • Lead design changes on existing hardware products.
  • Create and maintain detailed Bills of Materials for a set of hardware products, change documentation, and traceability of design changes from initial prototype to ongoing production.
  • Actively guide the Product Lifecycle framework, from release workflows to part modeling standards, and assist in business tool automation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience with detailed mechanical systems from cradle to grave, including structures, mechanisms, fluid systems, and electromechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where products are manufactured.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including metal molding, forming, joining, and machining, complex assembly, additive manufacturing, and/or wire harness fabrication.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.

Nice-to-haves

  • High degree of skill using Siemens NX & Teamcenter, or similar software (e.g., Solidworks, Creo, or CATIA).
  • Strong hands-on technical skills - both professional and hobby.
  • Experience with machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing.
  • Experience with composite design, analysis, and testing.
