About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer at Lincoln Electric is responsible for ensuring the safe, high-quality, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible manufacturing of welding equipment products. This role involves detailed development and documentation of tooling primarily for production use, handling small to medium-sized projects, and providing day-to-day shop support under supervision. The engineer will work closely with the tool room and manufacturing engineering teams to develop accurate CAD models and drawings, propose creative solutions, and implement process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the tool room and manufacturing engineering through the development of accurate and detailed CAD models/drawings.
  • Propose creative concepts and solutions to accomplish work order completion.
  • Work with the tool room to process work orders effectively and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain tool design procedures and standards.
  • Measure or coordinate measurement of tooling that is undocumented or altered to function properly.
  • Support suppliers and subsidiaries needs associated with Lincoln tooling.
  • Identify and resolve safety and ergonomic issues related to various types of tooling.
  • Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Implement process improvements and optimization using CI principles and tools.
  • Identify opportunities to drive non-value added waste out of processes.
  • Support the development of processes and the launching of new products.
  • Provide production team support.
  • Conduct cost analysis when developing tool designs or alternative concept and material proposals.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's 2025 Strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
  • 5+ years experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in plastics and injection molding design preferred.
  • Technically proficient in Solid Edge, Solid Works or an equivalent modeling software.
  • Experience with the use of measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of handling a variety of assignments and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively on the shop floor with employees and processes.
  • Willing and able to perform hands-on work as required.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious.
  • Willing and capable of working extra hours and off shifts when required.
