About the position

If you are a Mechanical Design Engineer professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based at our 70+ person Design and Manufacturing facility at our Brenham, TX location, you will support the development of proven technologies, products, and processes to meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule goals. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise, commensurate with training and minimal job experience, in the development of products and processes involving routine supervised application of proven, well-documented technology with low technical risk. You will design simple products or modify existing products using your experience and knowledge of product applications and company standards. Your work will primarily take place in an office environment, but you will also regularly work in shop and lab environments. You will manage and create Bill of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing sequence routes following established guidelines, initiate routine engineering change authorizations, and provide technical support to manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, vendors, and customers on routine technical matters of well-documented products. Additionally, you will prepare product documentation working from example documents and be aware of regulatory requirements that affect the design and manufacture of products. You will recommend engineering actions to your supervisor before proceeding on engineering projects, prepare plans necessary to complete assignments, and plan activities to complete work assignments or simple projects within established schedules. Identifying assistance needed by other functional groups to complete engineering tasks will also be part of your responsibilities. You will assure that product and product documentation meet quality requirements and participate in failure analysis reviews, discrepant material reviews, quality steering committees, product development reviews, design reviews, and peer reviews. Occasional travel (approximately 5 days per year) to Emerson facilities for training or project collaboration may be required.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an engineering school.
  • Zero (0) or more years applicable experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree.
  • Familiarity with parametric CAD software, Creo preferred.
  • Basic understanding of simple mechanical systems.
  • Interest or understanding with using LabView to automate.
  • Familiarity with use of basic hand and small power tools.
