About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer at Materials Transportation Company is responsible for designing new products, improving existing ones, and enhancing manufacturing processes. This role requires a strong background in industrial electromechanical equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure optimal design and manufacturing processes while overseeing the work of other engineers and drafters. Limited travel is expected for this position.

Responsibilities

• Design new products and identify improvements to existing products.
• Perform continuous improvements to capture manufacturing throughput improvements.
• Ensure all safety and governmental requirements are met in the design of equipment.
• Consult with customers and internal departments to determine optimal equipment and manufacturing process designs.
• Lead and assist with R&D and prototype development.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing, service, installation, and sales as needed.
• Establish and coordinate equipment maintenance and safety procedures, service schedules, and recommended spare parts list.
• Investigate equipment failures and diagnose faulty operations, making recommendations to eliminate future failures.
• Specify system components or direct modifications to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
• Study industrial processes to determine application of equipment.
• Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
• Knowledge in the design and implementation of industrial electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to plan and complete a varied, demanding, and time-constrained workload.
• Creativity and latitude in problem-solving.
