About the position

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Response Technologies, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of innovative products and technologies that are shaping the future of aviation. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire engineering design process, where you will work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to tackle complex engineering challenges. You will be tasked with designing prototype models to test various designs prior to full-scale production, thereby contributing to the growth of the department by effectively managing workflow in both manufacturing and research and development environments. In this role, you will utilize advanced software tools such as SolidWorks or Catia to model concepts and designs, creating detailed components and assemblies that will be handed over to the fabrication team for construction. You will also be responsible for implementing and standardizing CAD practices across the organization, collaborating with different departments to identify opportunities for design improvements or the development of new products. Additionally, you will generate bills of materials, source and purchase materials for design builds, and manage design data within SolidWorks PDM, ensuring that all aspects of the design process are meticulously documented and organized. Your expertise in fluid dynamics, material science, kinematics, and thermal dynamics will be essential as you navigate the complexities of mechanical design. You will be expected to demonstrate exceptional mechanical aptitude and creative thinking, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, to deliver innovative solutions that meet the high standards of the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design prototype models to test designs before full-scale production.
  • Manage workflow in both manufacturing and research and development.
  • Model concepts and designs using software such as SolidWorks or Catia.
  • Create components and assemblies for the fabrication team to construct.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in original concept designing.
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, material science, kinematics, and thermal dynamics.
  • Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of basic machining and fabrication techniques (lathes, saws, milling, casting, and welding).
  • Ability to create engineering drawings using proper GD&T.
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and creative thinking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes.
