About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer at Actalent is responsible for designing material handling equipment, including conveyor belts and other machinery. This role involves understanding specific requirements from the facility to create effective design solutions, which may include adding capacity, retrofitting areas for new equipment, or rearranging existing equipment. The engineer will also develop site layouts, scope of work for projects, write RFPs, collaborate with vendors for site selection, and oversee the engineering design process through to execution. The position requires up to 50% travel for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Design material handling equipment such as conveyor belts and machinery.
• Understand and implement specific requirements from the facility for design solutions.
• Add capacity to the site and retrofit areas for new equipment.
• Rearrange existing equipment within the facility as needed.
• Develop layouts of the site and scope of work for projects.
• Write RFPs and work with vendors for site selection.
• Oversee engineering design and handoff to execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, manufacturing).
• Experience in mechanical design of material handling equipment.
• Experience working with vendors, including creating RFPs/RDQs.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solidworks.
