About the position

The Mechanical Designer/CAD position involves providing mechanical layout and design support for complex electronic systems and industrial enclosures. The role requires proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, along with the ability to produce and update engineering drawings, including fabrication and assembly schematics. The designer will collaborate with engineers and production personnel to ensure successful product design and may assist in training junior drafters.

Responsibilities

• Create complex engineering design layouts of parts and assemblies from engineering specifications, component data sheets, schematics, and bills of materials (BOM).
• Modify released drawings and BOMs via internal Engineering Change Notice process.
• Execute judgment concerning dimensioning and tolerance, materials and finish selections, and manufacturing costs.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings for fabrication and assembly.
• Interface with other engineers, production personnel, and suppliers to achieve product design success.
• Assist in training and supervision of junior drafters.
• Provide support to Production for solutions to manufacturing problems.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 - 5 years of directly related experience.
• Excellent knowledge of good engineering drawing practices and familiarity with military and industry standards.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and familiar with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Adobe software.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
