About the position

We are seeking an Independent Contractor that is skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation with SolidWorks experience to create and modify existing parts, assemblies, drawings, and renderings in mechanical drafting and be proficient in using industry-standard software. The Mechanical Drafter will play a crucial role in creating detailed drawings and schematics for various mechanical components and systems. The candidate will work with sales, R&D, and reverse engineer to create 3D models including initial drawings and schematics. The Mechanical Drafter will be responsible for creating detailed drawings and schematics for mechanical components and systems using CAD software such as SolidWorks. The candidate must have experience with SolidWorks and should also be familiar with MS Office and Adobe. The role requires an organized and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple projects at once. Familiarity with the engineering process, revisions, and change orders is essential. The candidate will interpret and implement engineering specifications and codes and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, the Mechanical Drafter will utilize 3D modeling software to create complex mechanical models and simulations. Conducting finite element analysis (FEA) and other calculations to validate design assumptions is also part of the job. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is necessary to ensure accurate and complete documentation of mechanical designs and systems. The candidate will develop and maintain accurate and detailed assembly drawings, review and revise designs based on feedback from engineers and other stakeholders, and ensure all drawings and documents meet company standards and are accurate, complete, and up-to-date. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed drawings and schematics for mechanical components and systems using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
  • Utilize 3D modeling software to create complex mechanical models and simulations.
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and other calculations to validate design assumptions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and complete documentation of mechanical designs and systems.

  • Ensure all drawings and documents meet company standards and are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience with SolidWorks.
  • 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Mechanical knowledge and understanding of engineering processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Adobe software.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
