About the position

Tymetal Corp. is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Designer/Drafter to join our team in Fort Miller, NY. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with our sales team to create submittal drawings using AutoCAD, while also providing essential support to our manufacturing team by producing shop drawings with SolidWorks. As a Mechanical Designer/Drafter, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of layouts, cut sheets, and designs for our steel and aluminum gate products. Your expertise will be instrumental in preparing detailed drawings from photos, notes, and product specifications, ensuring that both sales and manufacturing departments have the necessary resources to succeed. In this role, you will generate manufacturing bills of material (BOMs) and convert sales orders into manufacturing work orders using our ERP software. You will also have the opportunity to recommend design modifications that can enhance or simplify the finished product, as well as update and modify drawings based on Engineering Change Notices submitted by the manufacturing team. This position requires a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills, as you will be responsible for ensuring that all designs meet the high standards expected by our customers. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain layouts, cut sheets, and designs for steel and aluminum gate products.
• Prepare drawings from photos, detailed notes, and product specifications for sales and manufacturing departments.
• Generate manufacturing bills of material (BOM's).
• Convert sales orders to manufacturing work orders using ERP software.
• Recommend design modifications to improve and/or simplify finished products.
• Update and modify drawings based on Engineering Change Notices submitted by manufacturing.

Requirements

• AAS in Mechanical Drafting or Design, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Familiarity with document management systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Manufacturing and steel or aluminum fabrication experience preferred.
