About the position

The Mechanical Designer/Programmer position at North American Kitchen Solutions, Inc. involves creating layout and detail drawings for kitchen equipment using AutoDesk software and generating G-code programs. The role requires project management experience and a solid understanding of metal fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify diagrams, work instructions, and drawings in AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks.
• Create G-code programs using Merry Mechanization.
• Update BOMs per manufacturing and purchasing requirements.
• Work closely with both Sales and Operations personnel as needed.
• Develop estimates of time and materials as part of project management.
• Complete other internal documents and related duties.
• Update and maintain all listing files (UL, ETL, NSF), reference materials, and samples.

Requirements

• Associates degree or technical school certificate (BSME or BSMET preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of experience designing mechanical systems for industrial and commercial use.
• Understanding of Kidde and Ansul fire systems is a plus.
• Understanding of electricity and electrical schematics.
• Prior work with sheet metal.
• Knowledge of HVAC is preferable.
• Strong proficiency with both AutoDesk Mechanical and Inventor required.
• Strong proficiency with Merry Mechanization required.
• Ability to size and source mechanical and electrical components.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including writing basic formulas in Excel), Outlook required.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to adhere to strict timelines and deadlines.
• Well-developed communication skills to troubleshoot problems and support company sales associates.

Nice-to-haves

• Project management experience.
• Hands-on understanding of metal fabrication processes and tools (shear, laser, press-brake, welding, etc.).
