About the position

The Mechanical Designer position at TechniPower, Inc. involves creating detailed computer-generated drawings and 3D models for various mechanical parts and assemblies. The role requires collaboration with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate production and adherence to drafting standards. This position is ideal for candidates with a solid background in mechanical design and drafting, particularly using Autodesk software.

Responsibilities

  • Produce computer generated drawings and 3D models for parts, assemblies, and projects using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Work directly with Engineer, Vendors, Purchasing, and Shop Foreman to coordinate the production and release of drawings and projects for fabrication and construction.
  • Perform necessary calculations for preparation of clear, complete and accurate drawings using standards for dimensions and tolerances.
  • Produce Bills of Materials (BOM) and work instructions for machining.
  • Assist with the establishment of and adherence to drafting standards.
  • Assist in design reviews, safety reviews and cost manufacturing reviews.
  • Work with Engineer and staff to set scheduling priorities and ensure these timelines are met.
  • Work on several design projects simultaneously and lead small sized projects.
  • Migrate existing project data to Autodesk Vault document control system.
  • Effectively interface with all levels of personnel including co-workers/company employees, vendors, customers, and company management.
  • Assist in reviewing project requirements, technical specifications, and reference drawings to prepare layouts for parts/sub-assemblies from concept phase through commissioning.
  • Assist in evaluating equipment and making suggestions regarding design revisions.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of mechanical design and drafting experience.
  • Proficiency using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault.
  • Understanding of metal forming and finishing fabrication.
  • Experience transposing hand sketches into computer-generated drawings.
  • Ability to measure and sketch parts plus assemblies.
  • Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
