Scientific Drilling is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Applied Technologies Center located in Paso Robles, CA. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of embedded systems hardware and software, along with experience utilizing various embedded development tools and technologies. As an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation service provider, we are dedicated to crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. The Central Coast of California, nestled between San Francisco and Los Angeles, is renowned for its picturesque landscapes, featuring over 200 wineries, pristine beaches, and a charming small-town atmosphere. In this role, the Mechanical Designer will independently apply functional specifications and utilize engineering tools to design hardware for product modifications and new developments. The responsibilities include leading the development of detailed design models, assemblies, drawings, and specifications for mechanical equipment, fixtures, and tools using CAD software. The designer will coordinate with engineers to design, layout, and detail components and assemblies, addressing any design-related issues that may arise. Additionally, the designer will review and analyze specifications, sketches, and drawings to assess factors affecting component designs and the necessary procedures to follow. The position also entails modifying and revising designs to rectify operational deficiencies or mitigate production issues, maintaining an electronic drawing file system, and managing project protocols. The Mechanical Designer will mentor and guide the work of other designers and independently develop PCB designs using PCB design software. This role requires a commitment to safety standards, effective communication with team members and clients, and a drive for continual improvement and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a variety of complex tasks and adapt quickly to new challenges.
