About the position

The Mechanical Designer position at Woodward involves working within the Fuel Systems & Controls engineering group to design and draft new aerospace fuel system components. This role requires intermediate-level design skills, including CAD modeling and documentation, while collaborating with a team of engineers and designers. The designer will tackle various challenges related to functional and manufacturing aspects of new designs, ensuring quality and adherence to industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work within an engineering team to create new mechanical component designs and design documentation.
  • Create 3D models and drawings in parametric-based CAD software for complex fuel system components.
  • Understand functional and manufacturing-based challenges with new designs and participate in problem-solving exercises.
  • Use Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing as well as internal or industry standards to define component designs.
  • Use dimensional stackup studies to assess assembly-level designs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities related to the position.
  • Assist lower-level drafters/designers with tasks.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree required, 2-year technical degree, certificate, or applicable experience.
  • 5+ years designer experience or a combination of Bachelor's degree and experience.
  • Advanced CAD software skills and computer skills including ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and professionalism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to process multiple types of information and/or perform multiple tasks simultaneously with competing priorities.
  • Ability to take independent action and complete job tasks with minimal instruction.
