As a Mechanical Drafter/Designer, you will perform a variety of Mechanical and/or Electrical technical and engineering assignments for Technical Services including design, drafting, and implementation of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation projects (Capital, Expense, Development) under the guidance of a qualified professional engineer. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing drafting/design/engineering request workloads and coordinating requests to ensure timely completion and level loading. You will perform the role of mechanical engineering support technician to Technical Services, preparing conceptual and preliminary designs of mechanical equipment or systems using CAD software under the guidance of a Westinghouse engineer. Basic design calculations will be required to produce these designs, and you will select hardware and software to meet functional requirements. Proficiency in the use of Bill of Material software is essential, as well as performing inspections and verification of field conditions during design. In addition, you will engage in project support activities, performing advanced project controls (scope, cost, estimate, and schedule) for assigned projects under the guidance of a Technical Services engineer or project manager. This includes generating installation instructions, coordinating and interfacing with contractors, and providing technical and project oversight for installation activities. You will also assist in preparing requirements and specification documents for purchasing and fabricating equipment and systems, generating requests for quotes and purchase requests, and identifying and acquiring spare parts for various projects. As a CAD drafter, you will perform mechanical/electrical designs under the direction of a WEC engineer, ensuring compliance with facility specifications and Technical Services engineering and drafting procedures. You will be a software subject matter expert (SME) for multiple engineering tools such as L2L, ENOVIA, SharePoint, and PowerBI, and provide troubleshooting and support for scanner/plotter and other hardware tools. Additionally, you will be well-versed in industry standard best safety practices and will perform a full support role to WEC safety leads in all areas.

Responsibilities

  • Manage drafting/design/engineering request workload and coordinate requests to ensure timely completion and level loading.

  • Perform basic design calculations as required to produce conceptual and preliminary designs.
  • Select hardware and software to meet functional requirements.
  • Perform inspection and verification of field conditions during design.
  • Perform advanced project controls (scope, cost, estimate, and schedule) for assigned projects under the guidance of a Technical Services engineer or project manager.

  • Perform CAD drafting of mechanical/electrical designs under the direction of a WEC engineer.
  • Comply with facility specifications and Technical Services engineering and drafting procedures.
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for scanner/plotter and other hardware tools.
  • Perform full support role to WEC safety leads in all areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma plus two years technical school training in mechanical or electrical engineering technology or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years experience in mechanical or electrical design.
  • Electrical knowledge, understanding and experience is a plus.
  • 2D CAD and/or 3D modeling certifications are a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, CATIA or similar 3D experience is required, with experience in tube/pipe routing a plus.
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player with critical thinking skills.
  • Passion to contribute to tasks and outgoing personality.
  • Experience with 3D Reality Capture and/or modeling over 3D Scan point cloud data is a plus.

Nice-to-haves
