About the position

The Mechanical Drafter/Designer at Alpha Sheet Metal Works, Inc. is responsible for creating detailed mechanical drawings and designs for new tooling and equipment. This role involves utilizing CATIA and SolidWorks software to develop 3D models and design packages, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. The position requires collaboration with engineering teams, clients, and suppliers to meet project specifications and foster professional growth in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical drawings and designs for new tooling and equipment.
• Utilize CATIA drafting software to create precise and accurate designs.
• Collaborate with the engineering team, shop floor, clients, and suppliers to ensure designs meet specifications and requirements.
• Create 3D models and design packages using CATIA and SolidWorks.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure designs meet industry standards.
• Review and modify designs based on feedback and project requirements.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Provide technical support and guidance during the manufacturing process.
• Maintain accurate records of designs, revisions, and project documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficiency in CATIA drafting software; familiarity with SolidWorks is a plus.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards applicable to mechanical drafting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, mathematical abilities, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and quickly adapt to change.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, technical) to effectively interact with clients, suppliers, and team members.
• Must have a strong sense of urgency, be time-sensitive and highly motivated.
