About the position

The Mechanical Drafter will work on-site at a local refinery, focusing on updating Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for the plant. This long-term contract role requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and effective communication skills. The position involves checking existing P&ID drawings against as-built conditions, making necessary revisions, and collaborating with team members to complete mechanical drafting and design projects efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Update P&IDs accurately for the plant.
• Check existing P&ID drawings against as-built conditions.
• Function as a team member on assigned mechanical drafting and design projects.
• Work independently and meet required deadlines for project completion.
• Interact with coworkers and customers as needed.
• Track hours worked on each project.
• Make revisions on drawings as needed.

Requirements

• 1-3+ years of P&ID and piping drafting or design experience in a heavy industrial plant environment.
• Ability to accurately document information for revision drawings.
• Experience working independently with good judgment.
• Strong safety consciousness.
• High customer relations skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD programs (AutoCAD and CADworx).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and be well-organized.
