As a Mechanical CAD Document Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing mechanical drafting and production assembly documentation services to Research and Development (R&D) and Manufacturing (MFG) teams within a New Product Introduction (NPI) environment. Your primary responsibilities will include creating and modifying 3D CAD models and 2D drawings that support part manufacturing and assembly documentation. You will be expected to coordinate data from various sources and develop standardized documentation that can be utilized in both NPI and Manufacturing settings. Your contributions will be vital to the success of R&D and MFG project teams, as you will be part of a centralized support team that ensures the smooth transition of designs from concept to production. The position requires exposure and familiarity with 3D solid modeling mechanical CAD design applications, with a strong preference for Siemens NX and Teamcenter experience. You will be responsible for creating mechanical drawings, interpreting product requirements, and adhering to engineering specifications. A solid understanding of GD&T concepts is essential, as is proficiency in applying ASME Y14.5-2018 and ISO 1101 Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards for engineering drawings. Additionally, you should possess a strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and practices, along with a general understanding of materials and manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, injection molding, casting, welding, wire EDM, and additive manufacturing. The role requires the ability to work independently while also taking direction from internal customers, such as engineers, to create, update, and document mechanical designs with minimal supervision. You will need to estimate design schedule requirements and manage your tasks effectively to meet quality and delivery goals. The position also demands reliability and flexibility, as you may need to adapt to changing technologies and business needs while working collaboratively within a team environment. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary to effectively convey information across functions and achieve common goals. A strong desire to learn and grow in a professional environment is also essential for success in this role.
