About the position

The Mechanical Drafter position involves preparing detailed drawings for specialized equipment, supporting fabrication processes, and ensuring that products meet high-quality standards. This role requires collaboration with engineering teams and effective communication with shop personnel to address design-related questions and ensure clarity throughout the fabrication process.

Responsibilities

• Develop precise shop drawings for equipment components, including assemblies and structural elements.
• Utilize 3D modeling software to create assemblies and parts that meet project specifications.
• Prepare detailed 2D drawings and flat patterns necessary for fabrication.
• Work closely with engineering teams to understand design requirements and specifications.
• Communicate effectively with shop personnel to address design-related questions and ensure clarity throughout the fabrication process.
• Apply fabrication practices to ensure the accuracy and quality of drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality; demonstrate flexibility to work on-site and accommodate overtime as needed.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with relevant coursework and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in drafting, or an Associate's degree in a relevant field with at least one (1) year of experience in fabrication drafting.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software for drafting and modeling.
• Strong skills in producing 2D drawings and flat patterns.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office for documentation purposes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
