About the position

Yoder Smokers, a premium manufacturer of smokers and grills, is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to join our engineering team. This position is crucial for supporting existing products and involves creating 2D drawings and developing 3D models. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of design for manufacturability. The drafter will work both independently and collaboratively with the engineering team to ensure that all drawings and models meet the necessary specifications and quality standards. The role requires familiarity with SolidWorks and the ability to advance into more complex 3D design work. The drafter will be responsible for maintaining organized files and ensuring that all engineering drawings and models are accurate and complete. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, documentation, and production release processes, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed drawings from models as needed for all areas of the manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure clean file organization guidelines are followed within the organization guidelines.
  • Check engineering drawings, models, and other deliverables as necessary to ensure accurate and complete information.
  • Create, maintain, and support top level assemblies throughout the design, documentation, and production release process.
  • Work with the engineering team on larger projects to complete projects according to deadlines.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with 3D CAD Systems, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Ability to create and detail 2D drawings from solid models.
  • A working understanding of GD&T practices is preferred.
  • Ability to create solid models & drawings from pre-existing 2D drawings and design specifications.
  • Ability to read, understand, and compose product/design specifications.
  • Ability to read/draw mechanical part/weld/assembly drawings.
  • Ability to configure product structure, create part numbers, and create bill of materials.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Possess the ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • SolidWorks PDM experience.
  • Ability to advance into 3D design work.
