About the position

We are seeking a Mechanical Drafter to join our continuously growing manufacturing company in Essex, CT. The role focuses on creating detailed drawings for sheet metal components using SolidWorks, based on customer prints, to prepare for manufacturing. The Mechanical Drafter will be responsible for various aspects of mechanical design and drafting within a manufacturing environment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed technical drawings and plans using SolidWorks for products from customer prints to prepare for manufacturing.
• Review engineering drawings prior to release.
• Consult with engineers and other technical personnel to interpret design specifications and take direction.
• Research drawings, catalogs, and sketches to develop detailed dimensioned SolidWorks drawings.
• Develop accurate layouts, flats, assembly drawings, and details.
• Maintain accurate records of design and drafting processes.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency and quality of design and drafting.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, specifically the Sheetmetal package.
• Experience in AutoCAD is a plus.
• Ability to create SolidWorks drawings, sketches, and diagrams from verbal and written instructions.
• Experience with MS Excel.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to analyze drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional experience in AutoCAD.
