About the position

EnergyX is seeking an experienced Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Designer to work on designing and detailing various industrial equipment for in-house fabrication. The role involves collaborating with Project Managers, utilizing SolidWorks PDM, and ensuring designs minimize interference during installation. The position is full-time and based in Austin, TX, with some travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Design equipment layouts in 3D and transfer information to 2D sketches.
  • Produce designs for equipment/piping, piping tie-ins, equipment arrangement drawings, piping supports, electrical distribution, conduit runs, electrical interconnections, steel tanks, and access walkways.
  • Specify appropriate equipment, materials, and consumables for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design.
  • Collaborate with Design/Project Engineers to finalize and modify design concepts.
  • Revise plans as requested by Design/Project engineers.
  • Standardize drawing sets in the design department.
  • Contact vendors to obtain relevant equipment drawings for incorporation into designs.
  • Work with operations crews to problem-solve and design solutions on-site.
  • Conduct site visits to take measurements and gather information for CAD work.
  • Produce complete design packages in both 2D and 3D as necessary.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks PDM is required.
  • Experience with Autodesk BIM packages and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Ability to produce detailed designs from general concepts.
  • Experience in mechanical design of various piping materials including PVC, stainless steel, and FRP.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in a similar role is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Projects is a plus.
  • Experience with design of mechanical support systems for piping, valves, pumps, conduits, and instrumentation.
