Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Supervisor

About the position

The Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) Supervisor at Howard Community College is responsible for overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the college's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This role ensures a safe and conducive environment for teaching and learning, while also acting as the Facilities Operations Manager in their absence. The MEP Supervisor will manage work orders, perform routine inspections, and lead a team of maintenance personnel to address various maintenance needs, including emergency responses.

Responsibilities

• Supervise routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Act as Facilities Operations Manager in their absence.
• Plan, program, and implement the preventative maintenance MEP program.
• Schedule and assign work orders to staff members using the work order calendar.
• Perform routine daily inspections and maintenance of assigned equipment.
• Maintain all mechanical equipment and control systems appropriately.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and maintenance specifications.
• Perform repairs, modifications, replacements, and installations on mechanical systems.
• Assist other maintenance personnel as needed.
• Recommend materials and maintain inventory levels for the MEP department.
• Submit reports of man-hours and materials utilized for MEP functions.
• Respond to maintenance requests, including emergencies and service calls.
• Conduct performance management evaluations of assigned staff.
• Perform preventive maintenance of assigned equipment and systems.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance.
• Siemens training preferred.
