About the position

The Mechanical Engineer 2 position is a critical role within the engineering team, providing expertise on complex mechanical engineering issues and acting as a professional resource for colleagues. This role involves designing and developing a variety of mechanical components and systems for products, ensuring that the designs meet both functional and cost-effective criteria. The engineer will be responsible for providing mechanical design expertise to support the development of new mechanical items or improving existing ones, which includes performing value analysis during the product design phase to optimize product development costs. In addition to design responsibilities, the Mechanical Engineer 2 will provide technical support for new projects, evaluating requirements and implications to ensure successful project execution. Maintaining project files and appropriate records of work is essential, as is acting as a lead by providing knowledge and expertise to colleagues. The engineer will also focus on reducing costs and improving mechanical design and development processes by utilizing best practices and professional knowledge. This position requires consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance, and regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. The role may also require working nights and weekends, variable schedules, and additional hours as necessary, along with other responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical design expertise to support the development of new mechanical items or improving existing ones.
  • Perform value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs.
  • Provide technical support for new projects and evaluate the requirements and implications.
  • Maintain project files and appropriate records of work.
  • Act as a lead, providing knowledge and expertise for colleagues.
  • Reduce costs and improve mechanical design and development processes using best practices and professional knowledge.

  • Ensure regular, consistent, and punctual attendance, with potential for variable schedules and additional hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise with complex mechanical engineering solutions.
  • Proficient with 2D drawing standards and requirements including GD&T.
  • Proficient with 3D modeling, CATIA, and SolidWorks; ENOVIA experience is a plus.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge.
  • Able to solve complex problems and make decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • MS Office proficiency including Project; Project Server and SAP helpful.
