About the position
The Mechanical Engineer 4 position at Chipton-Ross involves researching, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems. This role focuses on various mechanical and electromechanical systems, including instruments, controls, robots, engines, and heat transfer systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes.
Responsibilities
- Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, and machines.
- Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems.
- Provides technical guidance to internal and external customers on fire protection, life safety, and related matters.
- Develops cost estimates and provides input to the Facilities Long Range Strategic Plan for planned and emergent fire protection projects.
Requirements
- 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
- ABET Engineering degree required
- Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, Virginia Construction Code (VCC), and Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code (VSFPC)
- Sound working knowledge of fire alarm and detection systems, fire sprinkler systems, and clean agent suppression systems.
