About the position

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 4 for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for researching, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems. This includes instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal hydraulic, or heat transfer systems that are essential for the production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. The role requires applying research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. The position demands a high level of technical expertise and the ability to solve complex engineering problems while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on innovative design and development processes. They will be expected to work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing to project management and technical writing efforts. The role also involves adhering to safety protocols and utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as ear muffs, face masks, hard hats, safety glasses, and steel toe boots. The work schedule is structured as a 5/40 work week, with hours from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, on the first shift. Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check, and candidates must possess the eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and quality standards during the design and development process.
  • Collaborates with team members on project management and technical writing efforts.

Requirements

  • 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • ABET Engineering degree required.
  • Problem Solving skills.

  • Project Management skills.
  • Required PPE: Ear Muffs, Face mask, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots.
