About the position

The Mechanical Engineer 5 position at Protingent Staffing involves working on the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization, focusing on generating technical requirements and design parameters for modular advanced light water reactors. This fully remote role requires extensive knowledge of engineering design, particularly in the nuclear industry, and adherence to quality assurance standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or review engineering specifications, CAD models, and documentation related to NSSS components, systems, and structures.
• Possess excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application, including industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Interpret scope and project requirements effectively.
• Acquire, maintain, and develop training qualifications while providing guidance and mentoring to other staff members.
• Interact with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems.
• Commit to understanding and implementing quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines.

Requirements

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from an ABET accredited college or university.
• A professional engineer (P.E.) certification is required.
• Certifying Engineer experience to ASME BPVC Section III is required.
• A minimum of 15 years of full-time relevant working experience in engineering design, specifically in the nuclear industry.

Nice-to-haves

• An advanced degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Interest in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
