About the position

The Mechanical Engineer 5 position at System One involves leading the engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems for various facilities, primarily focusing on HyperScale and Colocation Data Centers. The role includes responsibilities in design and construction activities, energy audits, and sustainable design practices, with an emphasis on developing engineering skills through challenging projects.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and lead engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Engage in design and construction activities using various project delivery methods.
• Design HVAC and plumbing systems for HyperScale and Colocation Data Centers.
• Support design for additional areas such as administrative, warehouse, and laboratory spaces.
• Conduct Data Center airflow CFD modeling for interior and exterior spaces.
• Perform energy audit/efficiency studies and code reviews.
• Apply sustainable design strategies and assist in LEED certification processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License.
• AP certified professional experienced in obtaining LEED certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in HVAC design and CFD modeling.
• Basic knowledge of NFPA standards and HVAC system energy modeling.
• Familiarity with green building initiatives such as LEED and Green Globes.
• Experience with technical submittal reviewing and bid reviewing processes.
• Preferred experience in large-scale water and air-cooled chiller plant design.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Cadence Reality Data Center Design (Formerly 6Sigma Room).
• Knowledge of International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes and ASHRAE Handbooks/Standards.
