About the position

Impact Guard is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in plastics film, foam molding, lamination, and profile extrusion. This position is critical as the company is rapidly growing and diversifying its product line while increasing production assets. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for taking projects from initial design through to the fabrication of production lines, implementing automation, managing installation, and assisting in the startup of process lines. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach and be able to work collaboratively with various teams to ensure successful project execution. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and internal team members. Responsibilities

• Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new production equipment and processes.
• Manage projects including design, fabrication, installation, and support startup.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal team members to ensure project success.
• Lead automation transformation initiatives at Impact Guard, including custom automation and robotics.
• Implement automated quality control systems and safety improvements.
• Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using CAD software.
• Document project development and design processes in detail.
• Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in project management of plastic production equipment and systems.
• Excellent math skills with the ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems.
• Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
• Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
• Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
• Self-motivated and a great team worker.
