About the position

The Mechanical Engineer Designer is responsible for overseeing and executing mechanical engineering design tasks, including the development of HVAC systems for various building projects. This role involves collaboration with project teams, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure high-quality design and adherence to construction codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or supervise complete mechanical engineering design tasks including scoping, calculations, sizing, layouts, preparing drawings, specifications and other documents.
  • Conceptualize initial design for existing or new buildings and develop comprehensive mechanical system scope & design.
  • Coordinate, assist or participate as project team leader for mechanical design and other tasks.
  • Guide and develop other junior engineers on project team.
  • Assist in internal review, quality, building construction code analysis and develop design criteria.
  • Attend meetings with clients and others for review, construction phase and as required.
  • Conduct condition surveys and prepare engineering documents as required.
  • Coordinate with Architects, other Engineering disciplines, contractors, clients and others.
  • Provide follow-up and engineering supervision during project construction phase.
  • Contribute in development of office standards, policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to established project goals and objectives including schedule and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in designing, drafting HVAC systems for large commercial, institutional and residential projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of simple and complex HVAC systems.
  • AutoCAD proficiency and REVIT experience.
  • Experience in engineering services during project construction.
  • Knowledge of NY and NJ Building Construction Codes, Standards and applications.
  • P.E., LEED AP preferred.
  • Must have approved/accepted work authorization.
