About the position

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Englewood, Colorado, starting in May 2025. This position is integral to the mechanical engineering efforts on various Oil & Gas projects, including compressor stations, meter stations, pump stations, pipeline installations, natural gas processing plants, and central gathering facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with both the mechanical engineering team and the mechanical design team to provide project execution support. The role requires the ability to travel to support field work activities, including site commissioning. Candidates should have engineering experience that includes familiarity with P&IDs, process/hydraulic calculations, and engineering evaluations. The position demands a willingness to take direction from senior staff and to ask questions to ensure the quality of deliverables. Responsibilities also include reviewing and preparing line lists and equipment lists, as well as reviewing project isometrics to ensure compliance with client requirements. Effective communication within the project team is essential to resolve project issues and ensure successful project execution while continuing to learn and develop professionally. This position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work three days per week, allowing for a balance between collaborative in-person work and remote flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mechanical effort on Oil & Gas projects including compressor stations, meter stations, pump stations, pipeline installations, natural gas processing plants, and central gathering facilities.
  • Work directly with the mechanical engineering team and mechanical design team for project execution support.
  • Travel to support field work activities, including site commissioning.
  • Review and prepare line lists and equipment lists.
  • Review project isometrics to ensure compliance with project requirements set forth by the client.
  • Communicate effectively within the project team to resolve project issues.
  • Collaborate with the Mechanical Engineering team for successful project execution while continuing to learn and develop.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with graduation by Spring of 2025 from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • Engineering experience in the design of mechanical engineering systems for non-commercial, heavy industrial plants, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants, modifications, or replacements.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly in midstream and/or upstream sectors.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and piping systems.
  • Customer service oriented with a passion for high customer satisfaction and achieving project execution excellence.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff including senior management, clients, and other disciplines.
  • Strong problem analysis, definition, and solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow, multitask, meet deadlines, and remain flexible.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
